Fall is a great source of color inspiration. This workshop focuses on natural and earth tones: ochre, raw sienna, burnt sienna, umber, iron oxide red, carbon black, zinc white, green earth, and indigo—these are hues that, when mixed, create an infinite variety of color moods, just as we experience them on the most beautiful autumn days. The play of light and shadow, the finely textured structures of branches and leaves, and even mysterious moments of fog serve as inspiration. Your personal experiences of autumn—along with the thoughts and feelings that accompany them, and what autumn means to you personally—are of essential value. Furthermore, color studies with these natural pigments are color experiences that are essential for painting. This fosters confidence in one’s fundamental sense of color and sensitivity in the nuanced application of paint. These subtle color distinctions reveal the true quality of the painting.
One-on-one work reviews, general studio critiques, and, above all, the daily slide presentations on art history reflect on individual projects, thereby deepening the learning process and fostering personal growth.
Participants will receive clear assignments, and all work will be reviewed. The seminar is suitable for both beginners and advanced learners.
